Parent Volunteers

You are invited to be a part of our first grade family! We welcome and encourage you to be involved in any way that you can.

The following is a list of opportunities that you can be a part of:

  • Class Parties: We would love to have your support this year, we have three holiday parties throughout the year.  Parents are in charge of the Halloween party.  I will run the winter party and the valentine party.  As a first grade team, we have worked at planning out each party. A few weeks before the Halloween party, we will create a Volunteer Spot website for parents to sign up to bring in materials/supplies or to volunteer to run a station during the party.  We will send out an email and post this link to the blog closer to the party date. The winter and valentine party will be celebrated in the classrooms, without parent involvement. All the materials will be supplied by the teacher with the funds the classroom parents donated at the beginning of the year.
  • Classroom Projects*: Donate supplies throughout the year OR donate your time.  We always have laminating, cutting, and organizing jobs that we would love your help on.  Feel free to send me an email if you are willing to come in or have me send some work home for you to help with.
  • Field Trips*: We have one field trip in First Grade. Our field trip supports our science unit on animal life cycles and attributes of parents and baby animals.  We will visit the John Ball Zoo.  This trip typically happens in May, but we cannot  secure a date until after the New Year.  All parents are welcome on this trip and we will let you know more information as soon as we get it scheduled.

*Opportunities to help with classroom projects and the field trip will be posted on the blog throughout the year.
